Taking pictures.

Craig is a photographer and graphic designer who likes to spend his spare time with family, surfing, travelling, collecting old things and, yes, taking pictures.

His passion and talent for photography have led to his work being commissioned by many people and organisations, and his photography and artworks are admired on the walls of homes and offices around the world.

Since 1992, he has produced six sold-out limited-edition books, all of which have become iconic for showcasing Australia’s East Coast and its culture by offering a ‘locals view’ of the uniqueness of this environment and its people.

His latest book, ‘Our Whitsundays’, in collaboration with Tolita Dukes, from 8 Seconds, explores deeper into that place, presenting a study of characters, locations & signage which, through his lens, are translated into a vibrant photo essay of a ‘locals life’ in the Whitsunday region.

Craig’s appreciation of light and the landscape has been nourished and sharpened growing up surfing the beaches of the east coast of Australia and has continued through to the United Kingdom where he has lived on and off for the last 40 years. His wonderment at the beauty of the world has played a large part in his love of travel and exploration of other places.

In a manner inspired by the great photographers Martin Parr (UK) , Max Dupain (AUS) and Saul Leiter (US), Craig’s images have a universal currency that transcends time and place. His sense of composition and light, his ability to bring forth the person within and his ability to compose as a designer have combined to produce a folio of published work whose appeal is far-reaching.

He is often overwhelmed by the generosity and friendship he has encountered through his subjects, the stories shared and the support from the people he has met along this journey. He describes this as a humbling experience to have been granted such creative freedom throughout his career. At times, his subjects have been reluctant participants until discovering in Craig an artist who can see what they see, the self within, and entrust that precious thing into his safekeeping.
